Yes - gums grow around implants. A properly integrated implant and a crown will appear normal - as if the tooth is growing out of the gums around the implant.
I can answer that in many different contexts. Generally, implants are placed through the gums into bone. The bone is what secures the implant in place. The gums will adhere to the metal of the implant to form something like a seal around the implant. That seal needs to be kept very clean, otherwise bacteria can break the seal and cause an infection.
Gums are present around implants but do not stick/attach to them in the same ways as they do around teeth. Remember to clean implants and the gums because they can get gum disease.
