Hematologist (Blood Specialist) Questions Polycythemia Vera

Do I have Polcythemia Vera?

Hi, I was just wondering if my cbc indicate that I have Polcythemia Vera. I had a blood test like 2 months back and my hemoglobin was 17.9 rbc 6.06 and hct 49.6 and platelet count was 171 and then a month later I took my blood test in the morning and my hemoglobin was at 17.2 hct 51.4 rbc was 6.07 and my platelet was 178.

I will have another blood test in a week. I'm thinking this is PV or could this be related to my sinus problems or working out, I'm not sure also about to turn 19 years old could it be caused by sinus or doing allot of cardio workouts?

Not likely. Need to run two blood tests, erythropoietin level and jack2 molecular test. PV is uncommon at your age. Hormone supplements can sometimes lead to rise in red blood cells. Low blood oxygen levels due to respiratory problems or sleep apnea can raise your HB.
