Do orthopaedic surgeons work on shoulders?

I am a 44 year old male. I want to know if orthopaedic surgeons work on shoulders?

Yes
Yes, orthopaedic surgeons evaluate shoulder symptoms. Not all orthopaedic surgeons though as there are different sub-specialities in orthopaedic surgery. For instance, a spine specialist may not evaluate shoulder symptoms, but generally a general orthopaedic surgeon, sports medicine specialist like myself, or a shoulder and elbow specialist will see patients for shoulder pain.
Yes. There is no medical profession that has more experience with shoulders. We study extensively the anatomy, biomechanics of the shoulder and how it interacts together with neck, thorax and upper extremity. Most shoulder injuries are treated non-operatively with therapy, manipulation, medications etc. When structural abnormally is found by failure of non-operative care and exams such as MRI then surgery may be performed. Chiropractors can aid with non operative care but have no ability to compare and treat structural abnormality. Hope this helps. Many shoulder problems heal on their own but take more time than expected. If no trauma and no improvement in 6-8 weeks that is the time to seek assistance. Good luck.
Absolutely!
