“Do you lose weight after hernia surgery?”
I am a 40 year old female and I will have a hernia surgery. Do you lose weight after hernia surgery?

You have to change your diet to a DASH diet and exercise. Consult Functional Medicine and Obesity Medicine.
Hernia surgery is usually fairly quick and most likely outpatient. People do not usually lose weight from the surgery itself however, often find they’re able to go back and live more active lifestyles which can help them to lose weight.
The best way to lose weight is by exercising 3-4 days a week but having hernia surgery should not cause you to loose weight
Typically no. There is not a weight loss component to the surgery. It is not uncommon to see weight gain around the surgery itself due to the fluids given, but usually that goes away. It is then not uncommon to see a transient weight loss in the 4-6 weeks after surgery while patients recover and are not eating as much as usual.
