Most of the anesthesiologists put numbing medication before the procedure just like the dentist for your fillings. Your pain is usually tolerable for spinal anesthesia.
When your anesthesiologist gives you a spinal anesthetic, the only thing you feel is the first tiny needle poke that numbs the skin of your back. After that, you probably won't feel anything but that nice numbness in your legs and abdomen that means you will be comfortable during your cesarean delivery.
Anesthesiologist will inject local anesthesia first so discomfort is minimal. Cooperation from the patient makes it quick and easy.
