Not usually depending on the cause
Different types of nerve damage cause different types of feelings. Most nerve damage such as diabetes causes pins and needles sensation. Nerve damage due to compression causes sharp shooting pain, like sciatica. Skin nerve damage may cause no feeling in that particular area of skin after healing. There are many other diseases which cause pain and numbness. Some diseases cause pain to the touch, also called hyperesthesia, such ad vitamin deficiencies.
