I am a 55 year old female. I want to have plastic surgery on my hands. Does plastic surgery of the hands make you look younger?

Structural fat grafting can greatly improve the aging appearance of hands. Retin-A or a chemical peel can offer minor improvement as well.
Thank you for your interesting question. The hands are one of the characteristic signs of aging. The first concern is addressing the thickness, turgor, elasticity, and texture of the skin. Next, overly prominent blood vessels can be sealed. Lastly, fat can be used as a filler to add volume or, alternatively, a biological filler.
There is no such surgical procedure. Some physicians are injecting a filler material (Radiesse) into the backs of hands to make them look more useful. I have seen some nice results but reserve judgement on this. I don't do this. You can do limited laser treatment on the backs of hands to remove age spots. The results can be nice but are temporary .
One of the most common complaints I get from my patients after doing a facelift on them is that they feel like now their hands give their age away. It’s really a difficult area to treat because there isn’t really many options available to address the aging of the hand. That being said there are a few options available that give great results and help to make your hands appear younger.
First, you can use a filler such as Radiesse to give some volume back to the hands. One of the changes of aging is that the skin of the hand becomes thinner and the fat in the tissues begins to thin out. A filler can improve both of these issues and help to improve the appearance of your hands.
Second, you can do resurfacing of the hands. These can be done with light peels or lasers. Resurfacing helps to remove the age spots that appear on the hands and it can help to thicken the skin. Both of these changes help to improve the appearance of your hands.

Hello, Thank you for your question. There are many conditions that can cause our hands to look older than they are. Sunspots, thinning and dryness to name a few. There are multiple treatments available that can help hands look more youthful. Lasers that remove age spots and filler to help restore volume are two great treatments that help hands look younger.
Good Morning,
You can have a fat transfer done on your hands, that will make your hands more youthful. He would take fat from another part of your body and then inject it into your hands. You can call the office to set up a free consultation appt.

It’s more a question of personal opinion than medical opinion. Having said, that I would not recommend it. If anything, I would contact a cosmetic dermatologist to consider laser or possibly a plastic surgeon as well. Perhaps they could show some before and after pictures so that you can make that decision.
