I am a 44 year old female. I want to know if radiation shortens your life?

No, it does not shorten your life. There is a small increased risk of cancer with radiation, so always use an up to date radiology facility that images wisely. Wise imaging is using the correct modality with updated equipment to limit radiation during a procedure. The examination should be clinically indicated so that the potential diagnostic advantage far outweighs the small risks.
