“My mother is having excessive abdominal pain. Should she get surgery?”
My mother is 79 years old and often complains of severe abdominal pain. We have taken her to doctors, who are unclear of what is causing this. However, lately the pain has become so severe I am wondering if she should be having surgery?

Hello,
I am a pulmonologist but also know a fair amount of cardiac and allergic issues, but I am not the right person to answer that question; a gastroenterologist or general surgeon would be better choices to ask. However it is my understanding that surgery should be very cautiously approached especially at her age.
Sorry I could not be more help.
