Optometrist Questions Eye Exam

How often should I get an eye examination?

I am a 27 year old woman and I would like to know how often should I undergo an eye examination to make sure everything is okay? I used to go every year when I was younger but now I've been going every few years. Should I still go every year?

It's recommended to get an eye exam every year.
I recommend that you get an eye exam every 1-2 years. If you have any medical conditions, then get a dilated eye exam every year.
Every year. A thorough eye exam can detect problems such as high blood pressure, glaucoma, dry eye disease, and glaucoma, to name a few before patients even know they have a problem.
I would recommend annually, you may have changes in your vision that you cannot detect unless the doctor shows you the difference. Also, the doctor can also see if you are developing any cardiovascular diseases or diabetes through the eye exam.
A lot is dependent on your own eye history and your family eye history. Risk factors like diabetes, high risk medications and high myopia would require at least annual visits. Family history of glaucoma or other eye conditions would be helpful if diagnosed sooner. Again, an ounce of prevention goes a long way.

An eye exam, just like a physical, is recommended every year. If you have systemic disease, it's recommended every 6-12 months.

Depends on your prescription, contact lens use, and general health. If you wear contacts then yearly. If not, every two to three is ok until age 40.
Hello there!

Yes, you should continue going in for eye examinations every year. This will ensure that your eyes stay healthy and that any eye diseases will be caught and dealt with in a reasonable amount of time.
Yes, you should have an annual eye examination by an eye care professional every year to determine if you need an updated spectacle prescription, and your ocular health is fine.
Hi,
Yes! You should definitely go every year for your annual eye exam. We not only check your vision and determine if you need glasses (or contact lenses), we also check the health of your eyes for glaucoma, macular degeneration, bleeding, or any abnormalities that could potentially happen without causing any symptoms to the patient.
Once a year or once every 2 years is the norm. It's good to have a regular check-up to make sure they are healthy and that there are no underlying conditions. Similar like you'd go have check-ups at the dentist.
Annual dilated eye exams are what I recommend. Just like you go for a physical every year, similarly, you need to go for a routine exam with your primary eye care provider.
Probably every other year!
