Optometrist Questions Eye pain

Can you recommend some eye exercises to ease eye pain?

I have been experiencing eye pain for the past week, usually by the end of the day. Can you recommend any kind of eye exercises that can help me ease the pain?

It would depend on the type of eye pain. Most pain, towards the end of the day is associated with chronic dryness (esp heavy technology users). Most dry eye patients (around 85%) have an associated lipid (oil) deficiency in their tear film. Perhaps try an oil based lubricant drop 3-4 x per day for a week to see if that resolves your issue. If not, then seek care from an eye doctor as sometimes there's more going on than the need for simple eye exercises.
There are a number of exercise that can ease eye pain and strain. The 2020 rule: look at a distant object 20 feet apart for 20 seconds; rub your palms together and put your warm palms on your eyes. Take a nap. If the condition persists, consult your healthcare provider.
Yes, sometimes.
Hi dear friend,

We must find out the source of your pain. You might have a sinus problem, or a refractive error and you may need reading glasses. Sometimes convergence insufficiency or lack of accommodation can be the cause of pain. In this condition, again, glasses would be helpful.
Eye exercises typically are not used to help reduce eye pain, but eye strain for certain people. If your eye has been hurting for a week, I would recommend seeing an eye doctor, it may be something else such as inflammation or an infection. You may need eye drops or oral medications to help ease the pain and treat the underlying problem.
If you are in your 40s, 50s, or older, you may need reading glasses. Look away from the computer screen frequently, blink a lot, and drink lots of water.
