Gum issues with leukemia?

My friend's son is 10 years old, and he was diagnosed with childhood leukemia. I don't remember what kind. But lately he has been experiencing gum pain. Are gum issues a common symptom with leukemia, or could this be unrelated?

Gum pain may be related to leukemia. I would have the friend contact the treating hematologist.
Gum issues may or may not be related to leukemia. It could just be poor mouth hygiene, or an infection with some viruses that can cause stomatitis. It could be due to medications or the leukemia itself. The patient needs to be seen.
