Why do my gums bleed often?

I am a 36 year old male whose gums bleed fairly often. What does this mean? Why do my gums bleed often?

Because your teeth need to be cleaned at a dental office
Sometimes bleeding gums can be a result of a more serious systemic condition such as diabetes or a blood disorder. Sometimes related to medications you are taking like a blood thinner. Most often it is due to a lack of good oral cleaning --thorough brushing and especially flossing. I would start with a dental exam and professional tooth cleaning and go from there.
You probably have early periodontal disease...go see a dentist
