Audiologist Questions Hearing loss

Can hearing loss due to ageing be reversed?

My mom is only 56 years old and is complaining of a loss of hearing. I am guessing it is due to age? Even though she seems pretty young. Can this be reversed?

A comprehensive hearing test is necessary to determine the nature and configuration of her hearing loss. A sensorineural hearing loss cannot be reversed, but can be treated very successfully with well fit, consistently worn hearing aids.    Angela R. Age related hearing loss is caused by degeneration of sensory cells. It cannot, unfortunately, be reversed. However, it can be treated effectively with hearing aids and other communication devices.
Hearing loss typically cannot be reversed but depending on the cause of loss, sometimes it can (if there is a mechanical issue with the ear). I recommend a comprehensive hearing test with an audiologist to pinpoint the severity of the loss and which part of the ear is causing the loss!
