How can I stop plaque build up?

I'm 23 years old, and I brush my teeth at least twice a day. However, I still get plaque on my teeth. How can I stop plaque build up?

Plaque forms on your teeth every 24 hours. Even if you drank only water, plaque would form. Brushing will not remove placque. You have to floss first, then brush. See your dentist and ask how to floss and brush. Every one needs a refresher course. By flossing and brushing daily, you will keep your teeth as free from plaque as possible.
In addition to brushing twice a day, using anti-plaque mouthwash twice and dental floss once every day will help prevent plaque buildup.
You may need to change your manual tooth brush to a powered toothbrush. There are variety of different ones in local stores or you can purchase one directly from your dental office.
Please review the way you brush and do not avoid flossing. You can invest in low-cost water flossers and they are highly effective in minimizing the likelihood of plaque build up. Youtube has great videos that show you how to brush and avoid plaque.
You can't. Maybe slow down.
Hi....so tooth plaque is a fact of life, happens to everyone. When bacteria in your mouth builds up on your teeth, a sticky film forms. Some ways to prevent this is to make sure you brush the right way. Two times a day is great, but now work on your technique.

* Hold your toothbrush at a 45-degree angle to your gums while you brush.
* Use gentle, circular strokes about a tooth wide.
* Cover your whole mouth -- outer and inner surfaces, and tops of your teeth. Sometimes we just brush without paying attention and we miss some areas. Try to focus when brushing.
* Brushing your tongue to scrape away bacteria helps and it can freshen your breath.
* Make sure to spend 2 full minutes on brushing.
* Replace your toothbrush every 3-4 months with a soft bristle toothbrush.

Cleaning between your teeth is super important as well, flossing is a great way to lower plaque levels. There are other types of instruments you can use to clean in between the teeth, such as small brushes that fit between your teeth.

Try to limit the amount of sugary foods you intake.
And lastly, visit your dentist very regularly. I recommend every 3-4 months for a dental cleaning.
