How do you clean an eye with conjunctivitis?

I am a 31 year old male and I have a mild case of conjunctivitis. How do you clean an eye with conjunctivitis?

Artificial tears without preservatives. But you really need to see an ophthalmologist first.
Artificial tears or eye wash.

It all depends on the type of conjunctivitis. Please see your ophthalmologist for a complete diagnosis.
You need only clean off the debris collecting on the lids with a warm wet washcloth. The eye itself makes excess tears when inflamed and these keep the surface of the eye as healthy as possible. You could apply lubricating eyedrops to help. Almost all conjunctivitis in adults is viral, so antibiotics are not needed. Make sure that items you use are not shared with others as the virus is transmissible.
Good rinse under running water
Hello,
Good hygiene with hand washing and daily cleaning of the eyelids with warm water washcloth soaks and a mild baby shampoo type soap is a good place to start. Rinsing the eye with generally available ' eye wash' solutions is not recommended.
