“How do you know if radiation therapy is working?”
My 20 year old son is receiving radiation therapy. I wonder how can you know if radiation therapy is working?

Depending on type of tumor, follow up imaging is often used to assess response to radiation . Tumor size can be measured before and after treatment, or other tumor markers in the blood can be compared, as well as clinical response, ie, improved symptoms.
