Hematologist (Blood Specialist) Questions Hematologist-Oncologist

How do you prevent a cancer gene from passing on?

I am a 28 year old female. I am planning on having a child but I am worried about passing on a bone marrow illness to my child. Can anything prevent this?

There is no way to prevent it. Remember you only give one of your genes to the baby, the other part comes from the male partner. Thus if it is a recessive gene there is only a 25% chance of passing it on.
