Don't sleep flat.
Don't lie down to sleep until 4 hours after eating. If reflux is a problem, then elevate the head.
I will answer you as best I can. The fact that you have a hiatus hernia it is something you should get something done either way it want get well with out a doctor treating you for the problem. There are meds. you can take that can help and if it is to bad for meds then you will have to get surgery on it. As for you sleeping do not eat food before you go to bed. You might talk to a doctor and they can treat it for you. I wish you well. oledochouse
If you do have symptoms with a hiatal hernia such as reflux, heartburn, indigestion, or regurgitation, you may want to consider elevating your head with several pillows at night.
