There are braces available that you can order online. Also wearing wide shoes is very helpful and avoiding using high heels with pointed shoes is very helpful.
Unfortunately, many bunions are genetic and will progress no matter what you do. Avoiding narrow, high-heeled shoes (usually the best looking shoes unfortunately) is the best thing you can do to keep a bunion from progressing.
Unfortunately there is nothing that will stop a Bunion from progressing. Exercises/stretches and splints/braces do NOT work. Using padding or wider toe box shoes can decrease symptoms. Ultimately you will need surgical correction if you having pain with most activities and in most of your shoes.
If it is mild, stop wearing narrowed toe shoes. Once it progresses beyond a certain point, there may not be much you can do to prevent progression.
Bunion was caused by wearing tight shoes. You can stop the progressing of the bunion by wearing a wider shoes. An operation is the only way to correct the bunion.
Bunions progress due to improper shoes as far as a modifiable risk factor. A wide toe box is the best way to prevent accentuating the deformity. There are a number of braces or supports that you can try, but they are not well tolerated nor prevent progression.

Good luck,
