Anesthesiologist Questions Anesthesia

How is anesthesia administered to child afraid of needles?

My son is so afraid of needles and he needs to have surgery on his broken hand. How will anesthesia be administered to him? Will this fear of needles be kept in mind during the surgery?

There is a local ointment Emloc. Is good to canulate vein without pain. Ask your doctor.
He can be sedated nasally, or orally and place an IV after that or he could be put to sleep with a mask then have an IV placed
Children can be put to sleep in a pleasant manner using a mask (that has a bubble gum or peppermint smell) and having the child breathe anesthetic gases that induce a gentle sleepiness that leads to the unconsciousness of general anesthesia.
May vary due to age or anesthesiologist's preference, but generally in children with a needle phobia, they give him a sedative by mask and let the child go to sleep with gas by mask. IV is usually started after the child is fully asleep.
