“How long after a filling can I eat?”
I am a 23 year old male. I will have a dental filling tomorrow. How long after a filling can I eat?

Hello,
You should be able to eat as soon as the anesthesia (numbness) wears off. A filling should be completed by the time you leave the dental office; however, you will most likely still be numb; you can eat then, it will just be difficult due to possible drooling and even worse biting your lip or cheek. Hope this helps.

Immediately if a white filling. But for silver amalgam wait one hour for soft foods and 24 hours for hard foods.
With modern materials most fillings can be eaten upon right right away. I would suggest waiting to eat until the numbness is gone though.
If it is an amalgam filling or silver filling you need to wait one hour. Any other type of restoration can be eaten on pretty much immediately but of course you want to make sure that your numbed up area is not an issue and you don’t accidentally bite your cheek or tongue or lips
