Intravenous contrast clears in less than a day and much quicker if one drinks excessive fluids after the exam. Oral contrast usually by bowel activity, but fluids help.
That is directly related to your kidney function. It is variable for everybody.
Thank you and all the best!
Contrast has a 2-hour half life. This means that at 2 hours, 50% has been eliminated. At 4 hours, 75% has been eliminated. At 6 hours, 87.5% has been eliminated. At 8 hours, 93.75% has been eliminated. At 10 hours, nearly 97% has been eliminated. At 24 hours, there is virtually no remaining contrast.
