How long does a filling take to heal?

I'm 21 years old, and I need to have multiple filling done next week. I'm going to have 2 fillings done. Will it take a long time for them to heal?

Fillings don't heal. They are not alive.
Most fillings require very little time to set (cure). Being numb requires more time to wear off.

Fillings remove diseased and damaged tooth structure and replace those tissues with a substitute material. The teeth should be stabilized at that appointment without any need for further healing. Discuss this with your dentist.

Fillings are dental restorations. When part of your tooth structure is lost via fracture or cavities, the missing area is replaced with material to make the tooth whole. Tooth "fillings," tooth-colored material are as strong as they will be. With "silver" restorations the patient was told not to chew on the side the fillings were placed usually for the rest of the day. Mercury was mixed with silver. The silver and mercury mixture were referred to as "amalgam." For the most part, most restorations used today are tooth colored. Some insurance companies will
not pay for a tooth colored "filling" unless it is in the front of the mouth. You may have an option to pay the difference in price between a silver or tooth colored restoration.
