With surgical treatment, it can take 8-12 weeks with proper post-op therapy.
It depends where the tear is and the size of the tear. The healing time can take much longer than if you elected to do surgery. Without surgery it can take several months to heal.
Meniscus is cartilage that takes a long time to heal, but there are a lot of variables. The best thing is to schedule with an orthopedic surgeon for an evaluation.
A torn meniscus may not heal on its own and most likely will continue to degenerate if not managed properly. The most common cause of the breakdown of your meniscus is increased pressure on it for a long period of time. Posture plays a major role. I would recommend getting an MRI and then a consult with a regenerative practitioner to determine if biologic therapy could benefit you. Potential biologic therapy would include PRP, stem cells, exosomes.
It could take weeks to months depending on the situation.
This question is almost impossible to answer. Each patient is different and their are a lot of variabilities to the bodies ability to heal in time. Follow your Doctor's orders and their timetable should be close to the answer you're seeking.
That's a good question. It depends on how often it's re-injured. If it is re-injured a lot it will never heal on its own. I saw some research that says that doing exercises and getting care for the knee from a physical therapist or chiropractor who works on you was better than getting surgery. But you have to go to somebody who knows how to work with knees to get those good results. Just doing nothing, it may never heal.
6 to 10 weeks
That depends on the type of tear. Some tears heal with therapy, others will not heal on their own. Many times, but not all the time, meniscus tears can only be repaired surgically. If you think you have a torn meniscus, you should seek treatment from a provider who will take a detailed history and do a thorough examination.
This depends on which meniscus is torn, the mechanism of injury, and how severe the tear is. Some tears never fully heal on their own, some heal within 6 weeks.
This is a misunderstanding about the term healed. The tear doesn't heal back to a usable functioning entity unless it is put into apposition (surgical). Otherwise it heals and becomes a frayed end and has no functional use.
Depends on how much of a tear it is. But it can take upto 1 year.
