“How long does it take to recover from a broken ankle?”
My 14 year old son broke his ankle playing football. How long does he need to be off his feet? How long does it take to recover from a broken ankle?

Bone takes 6-8 weeks to heal, also if he broke it bad enough it would need surgery to put it back in the right place. I would highly recommend him being seen by a podiatrist for this but overall it takes 4 months to fully recover from a broken ankle.
A fracture of her ankle can take 6 to 8 weeks to to heal depending on the type of fracture and age of patient.
Two to three months. The fractured bone can take 6 to 8 weeks to heal and in the case of a 14 year old it's be around 6 weeks, probably sooner if he's otherwise healthy and well nourished. After the fracture heals is can take up to an additional month to strengthen the fracture and joint and rehab it all back to "normal"
Hello. Sorry to hear about your son. An ankle fracture normally takes 8-12 weeks to heal but kids heal fast. Compliance is important for healing.
Good luck.

It depends on the severity of the injury to the ankle. I would recommend X-rays of the ankle and potential MRI if warranted. Depending on the type of fracture, it'd take from four weeks much longer. This is why X-rays are important.

Normal bone healing is 6-8 weeks depending on the fracture. Non-surgical and surgical ankle fractures come with different treatment protocols. I would recommend you see a specialist for a comprehensive treatment plan. I wish your child the best in their recovery.
The recovery from a broken ankle is variable. Most bones take about eight weeks to heal, however the ligaments and surrounding soft tissues may take longer. Some people will be pain free in just a few weeks and some may take months. There are also a large number of different types of ankle fractures which can affect recovery time.
Depends on the severity of the injury. If he doesn't need surgery then at least 6 weeks, longer if it's more complicated. It may by 3 months or longer before he can by physically active on the field. You need to discussed this with the doc.
A non-displaced ankle fracture, like any non-displaced fracture, should be casted/immobilized for 6 weeks. That is normal physiologic time for healing a fracture/broken bone. But an ankle fracture needs careful evaluation. Many ankle fractures require surgical repair, and care needs to be take to evaluate the syndesmosis (the ligament that holds the Tibia and Fibula together) for proper stability. Failure to do so can lead to sever instability of the ankle after healing and can lead to more significant issues in the future. The fibular length and ankle mortice must be intact, also for proper stability. And your son should not bear weight on the affected foot/ankle for a minimum of 4-6 weeks.
Ankle fractures will usually take 4-8 weeks to heal, unless surgery is required to re position the bones. Also, the growth plates will need to be evaluated, depending if the fracture affected them. I recommend he be evaluated by a foot and ankle surgeon (podiatrist) to determine the course of action needed
