Hi,

Anywhere from a couple of weeks to a couple of months. Sometimes they can have enlarged spleen, so we avoid contact sports for 4-6 weeks.
Depending on the symptoms, it can last a few days to weeks. Because mono can affect the spleen, it is important the child refrains from very active activities such as football, wrestling, etc.
The symptoms of mono can vary from individual to individual. Most children will have a sore throat for one to two weeks. However, the symptoms of fatigue can last longer, even for months, especially in teenagers. Remember, your child’s spleen may be enlarged and he should not participate in contact sports for at least six weeks.
