“How long does a temporary crown last?”
I'm going to have a temporary crown placed on my tooth last week. I know they aren't meant to last long at all, but how long do they typically last?

Temps usually last a few weeks. Sometimes they can be lab made and last 4 to 6 months

Temporary crown can last more than a month if they are contoured, fitted and cemented well to the teeth and smooth enough not to harbored bacteria. I always recommend not to take too long to get your permanent crown because the permanent crown is more tissue friendly to the gum and does not come out easily since they are cemented permanently. It is also more easier to floss and keep the hard and soft tissue clean with the permanent crown.
Depends, a few weeks or a couple hours. Depends on location, your dentists skills, and what you eat, e.g., beef jerky, Laffy Taffy, or soft foods.

Two weeks is the intended average time that a temporary crown is meant to cover your tooth. In some instances a temporary will be there for weeks to months though. Your dentist should tell you when your permanent crown will be ready.
Temporary crowns are designed to last several weeks while your crown is being fabricated at a lab. They can last several months, however it is not recommended to go over 3 months.
Usually temporary crowns are meant to last about 2 weeks. They are not made of a strong material, are kept on with temporary cement so they can come off relatively easily when you're eating or brushing, and they do not have a great seal like your permanent crown will so they can end up with decay underneath them if left for too long.

They are designed to last the ten to 14 days that it takes to get a crown made. A Temporary does not fit as tightly as a permanent crown so the longer you have it the greater the chance you will have additional complications. Also, a temp is not meant to handle long term chewing forces so bottom line is get the crown as soon as you can.
