Normally, 3-12 weeks.
Assuming this is the repair of an injured nerve, the nerve will not regenerate much in the first 30 days, but afterwards, the axons will then begin to migrate past the site of repair at the rate of 1 mm per day. So the time that it takes to recovery is the distance of the nerve injury to the end of the extremity in mm + 30 in terms of days after surgery. Hope this helps.
This will depend on what nerve was cut and where it was cut. Will also depend on whether or not this is a sensory nerve, a motor nerve, or a mixed peripheral nerve. Nerves typically regenerate at 1 mm a day from where they are repaired under the best circumstances. Recovery after a nerve surgery is dependent on multiple factors such as age, mechanism of injury and associated medical comorbidities.
That varies widely on what type of nerve surgery you are having. For example, nerve repair will improve for at least one year. Whereas nerve decompression, such as carpal tunnel release, will recover in just a few weeks. However, keep in mind, complete recovery for virtually any surgery takes about six months.
