“How long should I be swollen after dental implant surgery?”
I am a 38 year old female and I will get a dental implant. How long should I be swollen after dental implant surgery?

Unfortunately, it depends. The more invasive the surgery the more swelling & tissue discoloration you will have. If you are having minor bone grafting done at the same time you generally
will have some minor swelling in the area (think grape sized puffiness at the site of surgery). Major bone grafting or multiple implants means more swelling. A simple single implant screw with no grafting & no extractions generally has minimal to no swelling so long as you follow the post-operative instructions, take any antibiotics prescribed, and ice the area.

It's normal to have some discomfort for a couple of days following an implant surgery. If there was a bone graft or sinus lift procedure also performed it may take 1 to 2 weeks to start feeling better. If there is any pus, abscess, etc., the implant could be failing and you should have the doctor look at it to see if it is having any problems.
