If you are obese, it takes longer.
It depends on multiple factors like type of surgery, duration of surgery, coexisting medical problems, and many others. For most outpatient surgeries, the anesthesia effects start wearing off immediately after surgery and, although you might be a little sleepy, but most anesthesia drugs are out of your system in 4-6 hours.
