Medications in children are dosed based on the child's WEIGHT, not age. for meds purchased without a prescription, the boxes will have a typical dosing schedule based on age, but that assumes the child of that age is of average size, which is not always true. Check with your pediatrician before dosing any non-prescription medications, to ensure the medication is safe, appropriate, and to learn the proper dose.
