Psychiatrist Questions Psychiatrist

I think i might have ADHD?

My parents don't think I do but I have a feeling I do. Sometimes I just stop thinking and my mind goes blank and I just stare at a random thing without noticing until a friend says my name. I always like moving when I stop moving a twitchy sensation runs through my body and it feels like it's telling my body to start moving. I talk quite quickly and sometimes I say a sentence even though I don't know what exactly I'm talking about and then I stutter because I'm thinking of what to say or finish the sentence. Also, I forget things a-lot even if they happened a few minutes in the past.

Worth to rule out Adhd condition by testing. Unclear if there is other mental conditions going on from what you are experiencing. Check out our website houston-psychiatrist.com
It would be good to get a Quantitive EEG done as well as a full neuropsychological evaluation before a diagnosis of ADHD. Anxiety disorder, trauma and some medical issues may present with the similar symptoms

Actually, there might be several different reasons for the symptoms that you describe. There is some controversy over whether ADHD is an actual disease. You might check out the internet site called Mad in America where these issues are examined in some detail. Many of the recommendations regarding how to help this "condition" are common sense ideas. The most usual recommendation is medication with a stimulant like Ritalin. Personally, I would not recommend that for the difficulties you have described.

Hi

There are several questionnaires that you can take to further assist. You would need an evaluation, and I would encourage you to speak to your pediatrician and bring up with your concerns. Perhaps, they can speak to your parents.
