“Ingrown toenail surgery complications?”
Half a year ago, I had a hallux complete nail avulsion. Lately, the thick nail bed has been forming and protruded far outward and somehow an open skin wound occurred at a little spot that filled with pus. Now, no more pus, but just the granulation tissue and the tip of the toe is painful. It's like an ingrown toenail but on the tip of the toe, not the sides, and the "foreign invader" is a callus, not nail.
What can I do? Could it be that a nail has started to grow and pushed the callus too far outward? I do see a white half-moon shape near the root of the bed.

Go see foot doctor. Have an x-ray of your big toe taken to rule out an exostosis or spur on the bone right underneath the toenail. A bony growth there can cause a "bump" in the skin under the nail, therefore causing the nail to grow curved or "n" shaped. At this point, a surgical procedure may be needed to remove that exostosis and alleviate your nail problem
