“Is a septoplasty painful?”
I am a 32 year old female. I want to get a septoplasty done. Is a septoplasty painful?

Hello. Not at all. In fact, almost none of my patients take the pain killers I prescribe them. You can visit my website at DrRoya.com for further information.
A septoplasty sometimes involves breaking the nasal bone, which can be an uncomfortable recovery process, however general anesthesia is used during the surgery which keeps the patient perfectly comfortable. Afterwards, there will be some discomfort involved but we provide appropriate post operative pain medication to make this phase tolerable. Most of the discomfort only occurs within the first few days.
Septoplasty is not a terribly painful operation. It is annoying because one has difficulty breathing through the nose for a couple of weeks after the surgery, due to normal postoperative swelling.

Septoplasty is not painful. It feels the same as having a cold. You will be congested with pressure like a headache for 4-7 days. Most doctors provide medication to reduce your discomfort during the recovery.
Septoplasty is generally not too painful. There is some discomfort that’s associated with her and patients can sometimes experience pain in the upper teeth which is typically related to referred pain from the nasal floor. However, the most common complaint after a septoplasty is that the nose feels stuffy and there is pressure in the nasal area and the sinuses. The recovery from this is typically about one week and after that patients generally feel fine and can resume most normal activities.
