“Is liposuction safe? Are there any health risks?”
I mainly have fat in my abdomen and thighs. I have tried everything to get rid of it, like diet and exercise, but it's not working. Should I try lipo for the fat? Is it safe?

Generally liposuction in a healthy realistic patient is safe. Every surgery has risks that should be discussed with your surgeon at a face to face consultation.
Every surgery has risks. In the case of liposuction, there is risk of scaring and bleeding. That is why it is very important to choose a doctor that is board certified in plastic surgery.
All surgical procedures have inherent risks. Liposuction may be performed safely when done by a board certified plastic surgeon experienced in liposuction.
There are alternatives that are non operative . Coolsculpt, Emsculpt, etc. depending upon excess fat location and volume may be able to achieve the desired results.

Liposuction is a safe procedure however all surgery has some risks. These risks can be minimized by selecting a surgeon who has experience and a good reputation. Most patients requite a light anesthetic similar to what you need to have a colonoscopy.Select aboard certified surgeon, they can offer you all the options to treat excess fat of the abdomen and thighs.
Thank you for this question. Mainstream liposuction has been around since early 1970 ties started by Yves Illouz in France. At first it was done with a fairly large cannula connected to a potent suction machine. Few years later tumescent liposuction was added (by first infiltrating a solution) to prevent blood loss and smoother results. Other refinements added over the years power assisted, ultrasound assisted and laser assisted liposuction were introduced. The latest state of art liposuction involve skin tightening such as ”Bodytite” and “Facetite” radiofrequency equipment. This usually avoids skin laxity after more aggressive liposuction for body contouring. I think with all that’s available today for liposuction it should be safe in the hands of a well trained board certified plastic surgeon. I should also mention that for a minimal fat loss, you may try Cool Sculpt (non surgical) procedure.
Good luck to you.
