All radiation has a risk/benefit ratio. The goal is always to image wisely. The best imaging method should always be chosen for the clinical issue. The goal is to image definitively with the newest and safest equipment. Radiation in the diagnostic arena has a small theoretical risk and should only be used if the benefit of a potential diagnosis is worth the small risk.
