Is there a surgery to cure sleep apnea?

Our 12 year old son was diagnosed with sleep apnea. Is there a surgery to cure sleep apnea?

It really depends on his anatomy. If he is a normal weight and has a large overbite then the maxillary mandibular advancement surgery probably would be helpful. Also, if he has large tonsils, the removal could possibly cure his sleep apnea. Typically if the sleep apnea is from obesity, surgery is rarely an option.
If he is obese, then weight loss. Otherwise, sleep study for better work up. Sometimes surgery is performed to remove Uvula.
Children are very different than adults. In children, tonsillectomy is the intervention of choice. It is generally effective. Treatment of obesity with weight may also be helpful.
