Surgery Questions Hyperthyroidism

Is vertigo common after thyroid surgery?

I am a 50-year-old woman, and I had surgery for hyperthyroidism. After surgery, I started to have vertigo. Is vertigo common after thyroid surgery?

Not really. See your PCP. Make sure your Parathyroid glands are okay.
No way. Vertigo is another problem, it can appear after the surgery, but it's easy to fix that, forget thinking about that. You can get or have some dizziness, until you get the correct doses for the thyroid surgery.
You can have vertigo for a lot of reasons. You need to keep track of your blood pressure and your sugar level and see your doctor to be checked out right away. I wish you well, oledochouse

No, it’s not.
It's not a common complaint that I have heard after thyroid surgery. If you are in your first week after your operation, it may be related to the positioning of your head during surgery.

Even though you had high thyroid function prior to surgery, you now have no thyroid function. You should be on thyroid hormone replacement. If your levels are not appropriate, that may cause some vertigo symptoms.

I would check back with your surgeon about your symptoms.
