Rheumatologist (Pediatric) Questions Juvenile Rheumatoid Arthritis

I have a 13 year daughter with swollen joints! Should I take her to a pediatric rheumatologist?

My active and healthy 13 year old daughter has been waking up with swollen joints in both of her hands. The swelling does subside by the afternoon, but the mornings can be very uncomfortable for her. What could this swelling be in such a young girl, and should I take her to see a pediatric rheumatologist to find out what's going on?

I would have her go to her primary care specialist to get further evaluation. If it lasts longer than a few weeks then would consider further workup by a specialist.
If the swelling has been present for more than 6 weeks, she should absolutely be evaluated by a pediatric rheumatologist.
