“Should I get braces before crowns?”
I am a 20 year old female and I need to get crowns. I want to know if I should get braces before crowns?

It is usually better to get braces before crowns so the dentist knows exactly how to make the crown look good where it will be placed and to do it well. However, if there is pain involved, getting the crown done before the braces is fine to relieve any discomfort or pain. Talk to your dentist planning the crowns to find out what they think, as well.
The answer is: it depends... if you need to get your crowns done because your teeth are already severely cracked and may be unrestorable (not fixable) if you wait any longer, you may need to have the crown done first because braces are not a fast process... but ideally if your tooth can be temporized and just brought to a healthy point while you straighten them, then you will get more out of your crowns by completing them after your bite/teeth are aligned.
Please consult an orthodontist to see which teeth need crowns and whether they should be done before or after braces
Yes. The sequence of events is seeing your dentist and fixing all cavities and getting provisional restorations on crowns, then aligning teeth with braces and finally receiving the permanent restoration/crown afterwards. In many instances, braces can close spaces or sometimes we remove defective teeth and create a beautiful smile all at the same time.
In general it is best to get braces to straighten to teeth and improve the bite prior to crowns. In some cases it may be necessary to have the tooth needing a crown prepared and covered with a temporary crown prior to braces. This may be true of a tooth with extensive decay or a fracture of the enamel. Once orthodontic treatment is complete crowns can be placed that ideally fit the corrected bite relationship.
Doing your orthodontic treatment before your crowns is the ideal situation. If you can perfect your bite, your dentist and dental laboratory can make your new crowns to fit your new perfect bite.

It all depends on what kind of condition the teeth that are going to get crowns are in. If the teeth are in good shape, but have large restorations, but stable, wait until orthodontic treatment is completed. Then, your general dentist can make the perfect crown to fit the new position of your teeth. However, if the teeth are broken down and in need of immediate repair and a crown is the best option to save the tooth, then get the crowns before orthodontic treatment and your orthodontist will place the teeth in the best possible position.

It will depend which tooth needs the crown? Must be considered the reason and needs to have a crown. If the tooth that needs the crown will be needed as an abutment. Without a clinical exam and radiographs we cannot diagnose or indicate any specific treatment.
You must need a Comprehensive Orthodontic and Prosthodontic Evaluation, the specialists will indicate your needs based on your findings.

I think most orthodontist would rather you get braces before crowns unless the tooth is so broken down it needs building up with a temporary crown to be useful in treatment. Crowns are precisely made to fit the final occlusion so they function correctly, however many adults already have final crowns before treatment begins and we do just as well.
It is typically best to wait to have crowns placed after orthodontic treatment is completed.
