Occupational Medicine Questions Arthritis

Should I be doing hand exercises at home?

I have arthritis in my hands, and my doctor referred me to try occupational therapy so that I can maintain some strength in them. I'm doing great in my sessions, but when I'm home I have a bit of discomfort. Should I be doing some exercises with my hands at home? Like squeezing a ball or something similar?

Yes, I would ask your occupational therapist to give you an at home exercise. For arthritis discomfort in the hands, some people buy a paraffin dip( which is warm wax), that can help decrease the soreness in the hand and improve flexibility as you do your exercises afterwards. Good luck!
