Chiropractor Questions Neck Pain

Are there side effects to chiropractic adjustments?

I have been considering seeing a chiropractor for neck pain, but I am wondering if there are any side effects that come from these adjustments?

As with any medical procedure, there are benefits and risks, including side effects. The most common "side effect" of chiropractic treatment is soreness. This should be more akin to a workout soreness, rather that an "I hurt myself" soreness. A good chiropractor will take a detailed history and perform a thorough examination to determine any risk factors before recommending any treatment.
There is no side effect to chiropractic adjustment there is only benefits of getting chiropractic adjustments

You may feel some muscle soreness after your initial treatment then you should be fine in future treatments. The only risk that occurs very very very rarely is a potential stroke or vertebral artery dissection.
There are screening tests for these potential complications.
Chiropractic adjustments can realign the vertebrae back into its normal position to relieve the nerve pain. There could be some temporary side effects of increased pains because the body’s attempt to adapt to the biomechanical changes, experience after manipulative adjustments to the spine. Although unpleasant these symptoms are unavoidable in that a small percentage of patients would experience them. This is known as a “REACTION” and may express itself in the form of pain and soreness. A “Reaction” may be regarded as a helpful change taking place in your body.
Most patients will not experience any side effects after an adjustments and many feel almost instant relief in some of their symptoms. The most common side effect is mild soreness after an adjustment that can easily be alleviated by utilizing an ice pack.
There can be stiffness or soreness.
Adverse reactions to Chiropractic adjustments are very rare, and can include muscle strain and or soft tissue sprain.
The main side effect to an adjustment is muscle soreness, which only lasts for a short time. Also, with the initial week or two of treatment, some conditions seem to become a little worse before they get better, which is normal. Most pain comes from nerve irritation, which reduces function. Once that function begins to return, there may be that type of reaction. If you have ever had your leg go to sleep, it doesn't work until it wakes up and the waking-up process can be slightly painful.
Great question. Based upon 40 years of clinical practice and experience, I have never seen a negative side effect from a properly administered specific adjustment. After a correction, there can be some soreness as the body must have time to re-acclimate to bones in a new, correct position.
Like any medical treatment, there will be side effects associated with the procedure, however chiropractic treatment has been shown to have some of the least side effects of any procedure.
There can be, they are very unlikely. There is no guarantee in any form of health care.
