“Can a tooth infection be the cause of my fever?”
I've had a fever for the last 2 days and I also have a bad toothache. I haven't been able to go to the dentist due to the fever. Now I'm wondering: is the tooth that's hurting me the cause of my fever?

A tooth infection can be the cause of your fever. A fever is the bodies response to fight an infection, and as the infection grows and moves from the source area to other areas of the body, the body will increase its response to fight this infection. I recommend seeing your dental professional as soon as possible for evaluation and treatment as needed.
If you let a cavity penetrate to the pulp in the core of the tooth, the germs will be carried throughout your body and can cause a fever. More important it can cause brain or heart infections. I've known this to happen to four different people, and one died at age 34 from an infection that started in her mouth. Don't mess around with tooth decay or gum disease.
