“I am having a slight pain in my wrist. What could it be?”
I am experiencing a slight pain in my wrist bone and is happens just once in a while. But it is very sharp and completely distracts me from what I'm doing. It only lasts a second. What could be the reason of this pain?

As you might suspect, the diagnosis could be any of 25 possibilities. If you were to see a doctor, they would want to know the exact location of the pain and what activity you are doing when the pain comes on. Most likely, it is a tendonitis of some sort. Pay attention to what activity you are doing when the pain occurs and avoid it. Try taking advil - 2 tabs 3 times a day. It will probably go away.

If the wrist only hurts once in a while and for a short period, then the problem is not likely serious. X-rays would show arthritis or bone issues. If the problem persists, you should see your orthopedic surgeon who might prescribe certain exercises or medications.

Hello, sorry to hear you are hurting. Unfortunately I would need more information to more accurately determine the cause of your pain. It could range from overuse to a result of a current or past injury. Visit with your family doctor or orthopedist would be beneficial.
It depends which side of the wrist, but the fact that it only occurs intermittently suggests a tendinitis or tenosynovitis. Bracing often helps. You can get a wrist brace over the counter, but if it becomes more frequent, don't delay in seeing a hand specialist to be examined and X-rayed.

Usually sharp free pain is of no significance and does not indicate any problem. We worry more about persistent pain or pain that interferes with activities on a continuous basis. You only need to worry if they intensity or the frequency is increasing. If so you need to consultant a physician.

If you are concerned with the pain, it would be best to see a physician near you for an evaluation.
