What age should a child start having dental cleanings?

My daughter is 4 years old and hasn't gone to the dentist yet. What age should a child start having dental cleanings?

It all depends on your child. Sometimes they are ready for it as young as 2 and sometimes they are not even till age 5. In my office we start cleaning the teeth when the child is ready for it.
Hi! I would recommend taking her to see the dentist for the first time now. Normally, babies should start seeing a pediatric dentist at the first sign of a baby tooth erupting. It is better they get checked to ensure that everything is developing correctly and in a healthy way.
Hello,

It is good to see you are thinking about your daughter's dental health care. For most people, it is an after thought. Usually, you want to do the first dental visit around the age of 1. By this time the child will have most of their primary (baby teeth) in. This is good because the child starts to get to know the dentist at a young age and gets to have positive visits when not to invasive procedures need to be performed. Do not worry that your daughter is 4 years old. You are not behind yet, but you do want to start considering getting her to have her first visit soon.
Hope this helps.

My best to you and your daughter!

I usually recommend around age 3. At that age most if not all baby teeth are present. This is also a good age for children to be curious and cooperative for a good experience.
2-3 depending on the maturity level of the child.
It is recommended that a child have dental home before the age of one. The dentist will perform examination for proper tongue attachment, gum conditions, and developmental stages of teeth. Also the dentist will educate parents on proper oral hygiene and diet associated with healthy mouth. Thank you for your question.
The american academy of pediatric dentistry and the american academy of pediatricians both recommend that the first dental appointment be at 1 year of age or within 6 months of the eruption of the first tooth.
Don't feel guilty, but your daughter should have started seeing a dentist around her first birthday. The American Academies of Pediatrics, Pediatric Dentists as well as the American Dental and Medical Associations all came out with joint statements 25 years ago the children should be seen around their first birthday! An ounce of prevention is worth a pound of cure...and the good news is: IT IS NOT TOO LATE!!! Go now and start a lifetime of happy smiles!!
The recommended age by the American Academy of Pediatric Dentistry is to begin at one year old with a cleaning or whitening 6 months of eruption of the first baby tooth. Some dentists or pediatricians have different thoughts, but the standard recommendation is to begin by age one.

Hello,

We recommend the first cleaning between 2 years 9 months and the age of 3.

Thanks!
This is a fantastic question. We recommend you visit the dentist at the age of 1, or six months after you see their first tooth. Even if your child does not have any cavities, it is important to get your child use to the dental environment. Your dentist is also a great asset for tips and tricks on how to help your child develop a proper oral hygiene routine.
