Ophthalmologist Questions Torn retina

What are the symptoms of a torn retina?

I'm 30 years old and I think I might have torn my retina, since there's pain in my eye. What are the symptoms of a torn retina?

Signs and symptoms of a retinal detachment include: new floaters, flashes of light, shadow in your peripheral vision, and/or a gray curtain that covers your vision.
The retina makes white light when disturbed, so brief flashing lights and floating spots are the typical but not exclusive symptoms of a torn retina- decreased vision is also a symptom- there are others but not typically pain - see your Ophthalmologist to be examined ASAP.

Flashing lights and floaters, NOT pain. See an eye MD.

The most common symptoms are light flashes, floaters and loss of part of the peripheral vision.
Flashes, floaters, a "curtain" blocking part of your vision, loss of vision. See an ophthalmologist.
Painless loss of vision. Will likely have flashes of light and/or increased numbers and size of floaters.

You should have an examination ASAP with an ophthalmologist. A torn retina can present with flashes floaters and vision loss. A corneal abrasion, narrow angle glaucoma, iritis, etc., can present with pain.
Symptoms of a torn retina are most commonly new floaters and flashes in your vision, and can be loss os peripheral vision, like a curtain coming in. They are not painful.
