What are the treatment options for diarrhea?

My 13 year old daughter has had diarrhea for 2 days. What are the treatment options for diarrhea?

It depends on the cause but for diarrhea of only 2 days duration, it might be caused by diet indiscretion or enteric infection. This is likely to resolve on its own without treatment. For many bowel movements per day, then Imodium can help. Also, stay hydrated with pedialyte if necessary. If the diarrhea does not resolve then see a pediatrician.
Oral hydration is vital. Usually the diarrhea is short lived and she will be better soon but if it persists then please take her to a physician.

There are no direct treatment options for the viruses that normally cause diarrhea. The treatments are to continue to eat what feels comfortable and drink plenty of fluids, avoiding sugary or carbonated beverages.

Avoid juice and green vegetables. Give poweraide or gatoraide to increase fluids and give dry cereals, bread bananas rice toast and foods that normally constipate.
