What could be the cause of an enlarged uterus?

I am a 29 year old female and my gynecologist told me that my uterus is enlarged. What could be the cause?

Most likely is pregnancy, but that is usually obvious. The next most likely cause are fibroids. These are usually non cancerous tumors in the uterus that can make the uterus as big as when pregnant. Up to 75% of women may have fibroid but they are usually small and remain that way.
Well, typically, nothing is the cause as it may “feel” enlarged, but may not be. If he feels it is really enlarged, he will most likely order an ultrasound. The most likely cause (assuming that you’re not pregnant) would be uterine fibroids. Although, more rare are things like adenomyosis. If he is not concerned, then don’t worry about it. If he is concerned, I’m sure he’ll order an ultrasound. Then, you will know for sure.
