What happens if you get a cavity with braces?

I am a 23 year old female and I wear braces. Can I still get a cavity? What happens if you get a cavity with braces?

The bracket and wires can be removed.
You can. That is why it is so important to brush and floss. If you do get a cavity, many times the orthodontists or general dentist will remove the wire to gain access to the cavity in order to restore the tooth
Braces require much more time for maintenance. You can also get cavities during your orthodontic treatment. Regular check-ups and cleaning are always mandated. If you get a cavity, the orthodontist will remove the wire and possibly bracket allowing the restorative dentist to do a filling. The orthodontist will then place back the bracket and wire.
Hope this helps.
Yes. Teeth can still get cavities. Cavities occur because bacteria are allowed to sit on a tooth surface where the bacteria consume sugars form our foods for their metabolic functions and excrete an acid that dissolves the tooth. Think of them as tooth termites. If you are wearing braces and get a cavity you can still have a filling done. It may require coordinating the removal of the wire or bracket by the orthodontist so your general dentist can access the cavity and restore it. After the filling is completed the bracket and wire can be replaced, I recommend if you have been told you have a cavity that you treat it as soon as possible.Hope this information is helpful.
You get it filled. Sometimes a bracket needs to be removed and also a wire. Yes you can get cavities with braces.
Absolutely you can still get a cavity and are more likely to get a cavity with braces. With all the extra hardware in your mouth home care is even more important and more difficult. If you do get a cavity your dentist can treat it just like if you did not have braces. Sometimes this means removing the wire and a bracket temporarily. So excellent home care is always paramount.
You can very easily get tooth decay with braces. Visit your American Dental Association dentist regularly.

You get a filling. Remember that cavities don’t just happen. There is always a cause. Most cavities come from eating carbohydrates too often. It’s okay to eat carbohydrates, but just not all day long.

You can, just do a filling.
End up having some fillings.
You are an adult. You should have been instructed how you should take care of your teeth. You have to floss correctly each tooth daily. You have to brush your gumline all around top and bottom. Brush below the braces or on top of the braces and on the braces.
Brush the flat surfaces. You should also brush around the cement that attaches the braces to your teeth. Most orthodontists will tell you to go
back to your regular dentist to have your teeth checked. If a cavity is found , it will be filled.
Part of the appliance that may be in the way is
removed and reattached. Keep your teeth cleaned daily.
Hello,

Yes, you can still get a cavity while wearing braces. In fact, because teeth are harder to brush and floss with braces on, cavities are more likely to happen during this time.
If you get a cavity while having braces it is going to depend on where the cavity is. If the cavity is between the teeth then the orthodontic wire (wire for the braces) will have to be taken off, then fill the cavity, then the wire for the braces goes back on. If the cavity is on a different surface of the tooth it is possible to fill the cavity without having to remove the orthodontic wire. Hope this helps!

My best to you!
